   •  ... ASKING NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN.     As much as it hurts: her parents are an unknown to her, just as her culture is. Found by undead within the Necropolis, the Mourn Watchers raised the foundling to become one of their own. Between the darkness and death, she developed a radiant smile to please the people around her, and learned to ask questions to get out of answering them.
While she regards spirits with fondness and reverance and hungers for knowledge and academia, there is no understating her distaste for some of the other aspects of her job. Such as dealing with demanding nobles, who are some of the most particular and, frankly, annoying customers.
The whole "dealing with your own mortality" on the job? Oh, that is fine. At least, up until the point she remembers that she has yet to find a family that can remember her - after all, it's not the Mourn Watch that keeps the dead alive (no, they just keep them moving). In her opinion, it is the memory of loved ones that keep one's essence from completely disappearing. The more impact one makes on people, the stronger the imprint of one's soul to the fade, right?

The Trevelyan family would often visit without restriction as devout lords and ladies and heads of the Bannorn. Close to her family, the house words live in her heart forever: Modest in words, bold in action. Yet, modesty is something that might contradict with her flagrant charisma and her magical abilities.
As an enchanter at the Ostwick circle she joined the Liberitarians. Her hope was to see the Circles as a self-governing institution, a place were they could study in safety and peace while under the watchful eye of the maker. But after the chantry explosion in Kirkwall and the pruging of the Circle there, she came to accept that the only way forward was complete independence from the Chantry.Representing her circle, she joins the enclave in Haven, only to accidentally disrupt a ritual that sets her on the path to become the Herald of Andraste... and then the Inquisitor.Evelyn becomes a leader and, to her parent’s delight, a politician. She stops Corypheus from taking over the world. And how does Orlais and Ferelden thank her? By trying to strip her of her power, her lands, and her organisation. After stopping the Qunari plot and losing her arm in the process, she disbands the Inquisiton and retires as Comtesse in Kirkwall – at least it appears this way to most.From her library she gathers her network to find and stop Solas (hoping to redeem him rather than kill him) once and for all.

   •  Even the dangerous things.      AFTER LOSING HER CLAN and fixing the Eluvian, Merrill had mostly focused on helping around the Alienage and using her connection to Viscount Varric to ensure the needs of the Elves in the Alienage are met. Was it to atone to what she has done to her clan? Was it working?
While she would still practice BLOOD MAGIC in the pursuit of knowledge, she decided to limit her use to such instances only. Fights as well as working on limiting hauntings and eradicating abomination throughout Kirkwall were strictly done without blood magic — for her safety. While yes, she very much knew of the risk and dealt with them better than most, she also knew that with a tear in the Veil such acts would only attract more unwanted attention. That habit remains until today.After Varric informer her of the creating of the Veil Jumpers, Merrill decided to leave Kirkwall for Arlathan to join her Brethren in restoring order. Quickly she established herself as a leading Eluvian expert.While she considers the knowledge gained in Arlathan as well as in her explorations to be invaluable, she is once again confronted with the feeling of regret. So much of her culture revealed itself to be the stumbling and fumbling of children imitating their parents, rather than the preservation of ancient practices. So much was misunderstood. So much was deliberately hidden. She cannot help but wonder again if her obsession with that mirror did nothing for the People other than to lead to the death of her clan by her hands.

   •  ... And I tell you about violence.      THE CROWS PURCHASED HER at a slave market in Vyrantium when she was but 4 years old. After her mother's death, her father put her up for sale to ensure he had enough money to escape that fate himself.
In many ways, it was a relief. They fed her, housed her, and the House Cantori treated her well, even if the training was hard. As a small kid, she had the ability to disappear into background or the corners of the Cantori mansion, and to found and fit into most crawl spaces - this earned her the nickname Little Spider. Paired with her charming and bubbly personality, she became one of the favourites of the Seventh Talon.Her magic manifested around 8 years old, and she was sent part time to the Circle of Treviso - she did not take as well to the lessons there as she did to assassin training. In fact, the violence of the Circle and the more distanced way the Crows started to treat her hardened her as a person and planted the seed with her struggling with her identity as a mage.As she aged, she realised that she never had been truly free. Her magic ability put her under constant threat to be completely confined to the Circle, the purchase by the Crows would forever make her indebted to House Cantori. In many ways she would always be under the control of others.Once she passed her Harrowing, she continued her Crow training fulltime, deciding to retake some of her power. Using all tools at her disposal, she started trading in information and with that boon she quickly rose through the ranks to Master Assassin. When Teia was made Talon, she offered Dayanara the freedom to leave. After some consideration, Dayanara concluded that there was not much left for her other than the Crows. After all, most of Thedas feared her for being a Mage, even if her use of magic was very strategic and rare.
